All reports, all AI models and regulatory extracts competed for space on the same backlog queue, resulting in business units building their own shadow data platforms to bypass the central delivery team.

Used a domain-centric data mesh to give ownership back to the team that was closest to the data on a common enterprise platform where governance was centrally enforced, giving us autonomy without sacrificing security, compliance or consistency while making the governed route the fastest one.

Built on top of Databricks Unity Catalog as our governance layer with domain-specific catalogs, standardized data product contracts, attribute-based access control, lineage, pipeline templates, and a platform-engineering paved road and Delta Sharing for secure data exchange between domains and even external partners.
